8.00 (good) | This is an anime that relies very little of action, and more of the characters and main mystery of the main character, and the the phenomena surrounding him. There's one thing you'll either like or dislike about this anime as that is the fact that anime talks - a lot. Long, descriptive conversations between the characters will take place in many episodes, and while at times I find it tedious, it serves to make the anime more complete, it makes the characters more three-dimensional, and eventually makes the series engrossing. The main character is an interesting one, and the sharp theme of escapism is great focus of the series. One of the best aspects of the show is the main twist; which was unexpected but fantastic. | ||

7.25 (above average) | Violence, blood, and revenge driven- this anime has all of the things that make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Interesting plot, badass characters- awesome twists, and AFROS. The ending was slightly predictable, but the fights along the way were spectacular and over the top (in the best way possible). Not to mention that Samuel L. Jackson is one of the main voices; that alone made this appealing and 15x more epic, and the main character's friend that travels with him is and excellent comic relief. There's a couple small twists, some that are contrived, others that genuinely catch you by surprise, but overall, this is a good anime to check out. | ||

Great as a kid's show when you're too young and stupid to realize that you're watching utter crap, but horrible when you grow up and consider the overall premise of the anime. It's like Yu-Gi-Oh, but it managed to be worse. And this time, there's no LittleKuriboh to whip things back into shape. I mean, come on- when your main character's tag-line is, "Let it rip!" and they throw a spinning toy in an arena- go home. Just, go home. | ||

This is without a doubt, the girliest thing I've enjoyed. Sparkles, romance, pretty dresses, tiaras, and FIGHTING EVIL BY MOONLIGHT. It doesn't get anymore feminine than this. But I love every second of it. | ||

4.75 (moderate) | Another popular anime that overlong, repetitive, and has stayed long past its welcome. It's an improvement in comparison to shows like Naruto, but it falls prey to the same flaws. The main character is where I have multiple qualms; a seemingly weak character at the start o the series, who quickly gains massive power, becomes virtually invincible, and takes down all of his obstacles with explosive power. After 300 episodes, that crap gets old - and quite honestly, I became disinterested in the show after the "save Rukia!" arc passed, because the level of predictability shot through the roof. Some of the other characters have good designs, but their characterization is seriously lacking and only has me rolling my eyes. This is a simple-minded show, that for obvious reasons, became popular, but didn't deserve its popularity. | ||

10.00 (excellent) | One of those anime that I viewed in the early 2000's, yet I've never forgotten it. The characters are wonderfully fleshed out, the animation is fluid and timeless, the plot is engrossing, and the soundtrack- beautiful! One of the most memorable music moments was during episode 5, when Vicious first appeared and confronted Spike in the church. The second the song "Green Bird" starts playing it's like ear-magic, without Hogwarts. One of the best things about Cowboy Bebop is the focus on the characters; they are three-dimensional, fascinating, and each have a mystery attached to them that unravels as the series gracefully goes along. This is not an anime to be missed! | ||

8.00 (good) | Combining two of my favorite things- anime and crime mysteries, is like magic to me. This is without a doubt, the longest series I've ever come across. I mean, 600+ episode is no joke! I'll have to double check, but the only thing I've seen running this long is the manga for Hajime no Ippo. Still, as the show goes long, it it's wonderfully entertaining, and it's exciting to try and figure out the mysteries/tricks along with the detectives. At times, there are episodes where the answer to the mystery is obvious, and it's impossible to ignore some plot holes. For instance: does no one really question the fact that Mouri's lips never move when he's deducing a mystery under the influence of Conan? Why do they always end up with large groups of people, who have a murder scheme underway - every other day? Why is almost every murder scheme so freakishly well-planned out with wires, invisible tape, and impeccable timing? If Haibara is so scared about people discovering her identity, then why doesn't she just change her appearance? How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootie Pop? The world may never know. | ||

5.75 (average) | Good times have been had while watching this series, so much so that I sat down the other day and tried re-watching the series. It was sub-par at best, but it's easy to see why a younger audience is able to enjoy it. It's in the same category as Pokemon - fun to watch, exciting for younger crowds, nicely marketable. As one gets older, it's charm may wear off, but the nostalgia off it all never does. I wouldn't recommend it to older folks (unless you too would like a trip down Memory Lane), but if I ever had a kid, I'd buy this for them in a heartbeat. | ||

The Manga: Utterly amazing.
The OVA: Utter crap storm. Sure it was fantastic seeing out favorite characters come to life via animation, however this OVA lacked a certain 'magic', and felt dull and lifeless in comparison to the explosive manga. Not to mention that the animation was sub-par was well, and didn't have dynamic qualities as the scenes in the manga. Overall, I'd say ditch the OVA and immerse yourself into this manga - you won't regret it. | ||

A great anime; I laughed, I lamented, and I rooted with the characters- and even though Tohru is such a Mary-Sue, you
can't but love her. | There's only one thing I have a qualm with... IT'S NOT FINISHED. It just stopped. The manga is complete, but the anime is nowhere near finishing, and is not showing any signs of beginning to. It's a good anime, but if there was ever a bigger letdown, it was the sudden stop. | The plot of the story is something very memorable and original, and the characters are very interesting. One of the most intriguing characters of the manga/anime is Akito - the head of the Sohma house. Their motivation is unclear at first, and learning more about their character, as well as their deep rooted flaws was fantastic. Not to mention one of the biggest twists in the anime involves them - the anime would be great to watch, but the real gem is in the manga. Check it out, when you have the chance! | ||

If this movie doesn't make you cry, you either lack a soul, or tear ducts. | This is one of those animes, that if I ever confronted a person who despised anime because they believe it lacks substance, I would show them this movie. At some point while watching this, it completely forget that I'm watching an anime; the characters are amazingly human, the symbolism is heartbreaking, and the animation, the details, even the character's movements are a complete work of art. | If you've never seen this film, do yourself a favor and take the time to watch it. My appreciation for the art of animation instantly multiplied after watching Grave of Fireflies. | ||

Hajime no Ippo is very enjoyable; the characters are beautifully fleshed out and likable and it smoothly transitions to moments of sidesplitting laughter to complete edge-of-your-seat moments. The action scenes are a blend of realism with some anime excesses (the good kind), which meshes together wonderfully in the ring. I can't even begin to explain how many times I held my breath during fight sequences- this show is just that good. | ||

6.75 (above average) | One of the anime that got me INTO anime- but damn, this one takes too long to finish. It's a good anime, but it only has a 6.75 because of length and predictability. To put it nicely, "GOD DAMN, THIS ANIME IS LONG!" The first episodes are the real gem, but after about 200+ episodes, you begin to wonder when the hell they will collect all of the Jewel Shards, when Kagome and Inuyasha will finally admit their feelings, and when Naraku will finally die. Naraku's my favorite character, but after episode 200 I was ready to kill Naraku myself - anything in order to put an end to this damned series. That flaw aside, the character designs are great especially Sesshomaru, which would explain his legions of hormonal fangirls (and I won't delude myself by saying that I'm not one of them)- and the characters themselves are interesting to watch - even if they lack excellent characterization. Kagura and Sesshomaru were my favorites because of their superior characterization, but the other cast fell flat. Still, would I recommend this? Possibly. The series finally ended, but overall, you're in for a long, repetitive ride if you start watching. | ||

This series is very cliched and predictable. Juvenile Orion features the standard, klutzy female protagonist with a
heart of gold, and a strong desire to protect those around her. While certain anime knows how to take that character
archtype and make it endearing, this series foregoes it completely. And no, no, I'm not talking about Fruit's
Basket's Tohru Honda (that would be an improvement!) - no, I'm talking about Mana Kirihara, the cliches of all
cliches in terms of female protagonists. She has a rare, powerful ability which causes her to be the main target of a
darker force - pffft, fanfiction, please. As for the other characters, they are as underdeveloped and gorgeous as
you'd expect: there's the silent, brooding male character (but of course, Mana's lovable nature
penetrates his cold exterior - in about a millisecond), there's the soft spoken character (who's also lost his
memory - gasp, what a twist!), the innocently naive character, who's always being mistaken as a pervert and finding
himself in oddly perverted situations. You get where I going with this? Yeah, it's a trip down Cliche Lane
again.
| While the artwork does slightly lift up this series from a harsh 2 or 3, it's not a miracle either. The character designs lack originality and are instantly forgettable, and it lacks true finesse which would've truly given this series something to stand on. But alas, this series just comes off as a mess bowl of cliches and crappy characters. You're better off skipping this title of picking up something else. | ||

I facepalm at Kobato's antics, and lack of understanding, but I still can't help but adore her. I'm still watching this series, but overall, it's handling characterizations very well, the animation is beautiful, and the music is gorgeous. I can't wait to see how the series unfolds. | ||

head band? I just want to know how that idea was pitched when they were animating: "Okay guys, how about this...? A
gundam, now- stay with me, is ripped apart... by a head band! I know what you're thinking, did I smoke one ounce of
marijuana or two? Well to be honest, after the first ecstasy pill I've forgotten myself. So you have to ask
yourself one question: do you want to animate this? Well do ya', punk?" | Beside that, there's epic battle speeches (BURNING FINGER!), hit-or-miss character design, over the top battle sequences, and sub-par English voice acting - what's not to love? Well, maybe a lot. Still, I have to admit - even today I love this anime; but it's understandable why some won't. | ||

I do, I really do like the anime- but every time I see Kira, I want to slap the tears of angst off his face. Many parts of it are predictable (best friends, now on opposites sides of a war- what a twist!), but it's an anime that can hold your interest, despite the overwhelming angst of it all. There's interesting characters and the plot is pretty alright (but once again, it can be predictable), and in my opinion, it'll never be the best Gundam series. | ||

4.75 (moderate) | Like Bleach, I don't think I'll ever see all of the episodes. Damn, there's too many. Overall, the series could be better- but with so many episodes, I can only expect so much. The anime is enjoyable, but as I grow older, it's something that doesn't stay with me. It has a childish quality to it, and if that doesn't draw you away from it, the filler episodes and Shippuden might. Shippuuden is great, the animation is improved- but it shouldn't be called "Naruto" at that point. It should be titled "Sasuke", because he becomes the main focus/goal during Shippuuden. The show is interesting, and there's a lot of cool characters- but it's no masterpiece. | ||

Absolutely amazing. The characters, the plot - oh the plot, I love you long time and your depiction of a dystopian
society. This anime ranges from moments of adorableness, "Oh my god, what was that?!", and "holy crap,
that was the most intense thing in the universe". However, I wouldn't recommend this anime to anyone who is
not fond of Shounen-Ai. While the anime is not marketed as such, a few episodes in, you'll notice the interestingly
romantic chemistry between the two main characters. As a big fan of Shounen-Ai, I was more than pleased at the
relationship between Shion and Nezumi, but it's not for everyone. | One thing I can complain about? The ending. While it was good and provided a satisfying resolution, the supernatural elements of it didn't mesh perfectly with the technological aspect that was prominent in the entire anime. Not to mention that while the supernatural element was mysterious, it was too mysterious for my tastes. More should've gone into explaining it, so that people who watch it for the first time don't start quirking their eyebrows. | ||

So many games, movies, spinoffs - but the first series, with the classic trio of Ash, Misty, and Brock was my favorite - and the first movie kicked ass! That scene where all of the Pokemon tried to revive Ash? Don't try to hide those tissues, I know you cried too. That classic opening song? After so many series, Ash better be the damn best, that no one ever was. That aside, this is a good franchise to be invested in, it fun, and the gaming from what I've seen is fantastic. Pokemon is as timeless as ever. | ||

9.00 (very good) | Amazing anime- it has its flaws, but it's certainly one of my favorites. After the Shishio Ark, the series goes in a direction that disinterests me, however everything before that? Pure magic. Shishio will forever be my favorite anime villain, on pure philosophy alone (sexy bandages come second). And Kenshin Himura is, believe it or not, the reason I began drawing anime in the first place. I used to record episodes of Rurouni Kenshin, pause a screen, and draw away. Certainly one of my best childhood moments. Rurouni Kenshin has excellent characters, wonderful fight sequences, and an interesting plot- however, Samurai X was much more of a masterpiece. It utilize raw emotion more efficiently and knew how to portray Kenshin's inner conflict and personal flaws better. Not to mention the animation style in comparison to Rurouni Kenshin is superior and more fluid. Neither should be missed, however- I highly recommend both. | ||

1.00 (terrible) | This series was the first series as a younger kid that I actually despised. And for someone who loved Power Rangers and Beast Transformers, that's a damn feat. To put it nicely: dear moldy Deity, this show is absolutely horrendous. "It's Gundam, what could possibly go wrong?" "EVERYTHING." First of all, the designs make me cry. The Gundams are all miniature/chibi in appearance. How am I supposed to make a tiny Gundam seriously? I had a less difficult time hating Kira during his sob fests during battle than this drivel. The other thing: the animation. Everything is in 3D, which in this case, makes everything more pathetic looking, especially the Gundam's eyes - which look bright, and overly desu desu kawaii. The next is the big one - THE GUNDAMS SPEAK. "Whattttt~!?" whatthehelliswrongwithyoupeople.gif - yes, the Gundams actually speak in this series, and wow, will this slaughter your childhood. Heero is crying in his sleep, I'd bet. I know I am. | ||

The story, the animation, the excellent English dubbing (seriously, they worked hard at making it seamless!), the characters, and the crafted world in which the characters are trapped. One of the many things that MIyazaki knows how to accomplish beautifully is creating a surreal world, and making it appear tangible, and 'realistic' in its own special way. The characters are another thing that are done beautifully; they fleshed out, they do things that I both like and dislike, which is a sign of a great three-dimensional character. The animation is one of the best aspects of this- it has Miyazaki's signature style, and it so crisp, so fluid - it's unforgettable. Would I recommend this? Always. Check this out if you haven't already. | ||

4.50 (moderate) | Don't you love Soap Operas? Yeah, me neither. What about Soap Opera anime? Wellllll... maybe. As strange as it is, that's what I'd classify this anime as - extremely melodramatic and emotional to the max. Does that make it bad? Eh, maybe, if you're not into that much drama. Personally, I liked it a bit. Some parts were laughable, like the fainting (he's there when someone wakes from a coma, and he gets so freaked out he screams like a little girl and nearly faints as well, pft!) while others were like, "Well, damn. You just have no luck, do you?" but overall, it was an 'alright' series. | ||
